Video of the Didier Zokora dive

Does this make the case for instant replay?

Yes, or perhaps the banning of wimpy, cry-baby strikers would do it as well…

But you repeat yourself… :-)

no instant replay – never – its awful
but
i have proposed that if caught on video tape the player should be punished retroactively with a yellow card
just like if you are caught punching someone and they suspend you
thats my idea and i am sticking to it

Bruce: I think that’s a great start. I understand and share your hesitation with regard to replay. I wonder, though, if the retroactive punishment would really act as a deterrent or if players would sacrifice themselves by choosing the immediate gain (a win)…

I think the punishment should go further than a yellow-card. If retro-active it should definitely be a red-card multi-game suspension situation.

I can’t see strikers considering that a worthy sacrifice.

Makes the case for post match assessment of referee performance. THAT’s the instant replay I’d like to see. I mean that ref was RIGHT there and the lifting of the foot was just classic acting. You know, a lot of sports will assess penalties to players after a competition is concluded based on video evidence. If diving players knew they could be nailed after the fact EVEN if they weren’t carded – maybe they’d think twice before pulling a stunt like this. You don’t want to create a witchhunt atmosphere – but this is BLATANT. How can you not call that a dive to get a PK?
