Will McBride stay in London?
With all the speculation about the MLS providing a cushy retirement to Euorpean has-beens, we’ve forgotten about one of our own.
Brian McBride, who plays for Fulham, recently retired from international play and may be looking to come home to finish his career in MLS. Seems like a good deal, right?
Not if Fulham manager Chris Coleman has anything to say about it. In a recent statement, Coleman said, “We’re interested in offering Brian a new deal. We’ll get past Christmas first and then sit down with Brian.”
Smart man, that Chris Coleman. McBride has at least a couple great years left and the Fulham supporters, who voted him “Player of the Season” last year want to keep him around.

McBride is a great target man and tireless worker up front. Interesting to see what he will decide to do. Fulham also have Heidur Helguson as a target man, who is a bit speedier than McBride. I’d hate to see McBride consigned to a “substitutes only” role for his remaining years.
I am sure McBride will stay for atleast one more year. After that you never know.
