Chart: U.S. Men’s National Team FIFA rankings 1993-current
When the November 2006 FIFA rankings were announced, I went searching for historical data. Specifically, I wanted to see how FIFA ranked the U.S. Men’s National Team over a number of years and I wanted it all in one place.
Since I didn’t find it, I made it myself. What you see below is a FIFA rankings chart that chronicles the rankings of the U.S. Men’s National team from 1993 to the present. I will update this chart each time new rankings are announced.
Please note: this is not an endorsement of the FIFA ranking system (we’ve talked about the issues with the FIFA rankings previously) but rather a tool for historical purposes only.

One more thing: Some versions of Internet Explorer render the table above poorly. Without getting too technical, that’s because Internet Explorer is a piece of crap and I’ve decided to stop writing two sets of code just to make things work for it.
If you don’t already have it, I strongly recommend that you get Firefox and start seeing the internet the way it was meant to be seen.

Josh,
Nice chart. I guess it doesn’t pay to play in CONCACAF anymore.
The US can beat Mexico – sometimes. Beyond that we are far from being a “world class” soccer nation and our previous #5 ranking was never earned or deserved.
USMNT Historical FIFA Rankings – The Cliff…
Josh over at Throughball has a great table of the USMNT FIFA rankings for the past 14 years which shows that, at least based on their rankings, the USMNT gradually improved year over year up until the 2006 World Cup. Then they promptly fell off a cliff…
