Donate to the Landon Donovan Wedding Gift Fund
Yesterday, I showed you Landon Donovan’s many wedding gift registries.
I think we should all chip in and get him and his stunning fiancée a nice gift.
There is one primary reason for this: proper etiquette demands that the recipient of a gift send a thank you note to the gift giver. And, say what you will, a thank you note from Landon Donovan would be pretty cool.
Since I don’t make a lot of money (not even as much as an MLS star) I am soliciting your donations via PayPal. I promise to use every cent to buy those crazy kids the vase, candle, or step-stool of their dreams. Moreover, I’ll include a nice little card that is signed by me and the readers of ThroughBall.com.
What do you say? I’m going to accept donations through Saturday, December 16. We need to get this thing moving if we want it to ship in time for the wedding.

I’m thinking as part of this master plan we need to start a pool – how long will the thank you note take to arrive AND was it hand signed or signed by a machine?
That is a fantastic idea.
Letting Donovan Know We Care…
Josh over at Throughball has been having some fun with the news that the SoccerSphere’s [snark]Favorite USMNT Player Ehva[/snark] is getting married. Josh found that Landon and his stunning fiancĂ©e Bianca Kajlich have registered at Macy’s,…
How about a pair of balls?
Would early retirement from the Nats team count as a wedding gift?
While I think this is quite funny, my SO made a pretty valid point. If I were a celebrity and random people on the internet took up a collection to get a wedding gift for me, I would prefer they donate it to a charity I supported. So, I guess while it would be fun to buy them a gift, perhaps a small item would be in order and the rest could be donated to Grass Roots Soccer or whatever charities Landon & Bianca support.

I’m afraid we’ll never raise enough money. I’ve sent Santa a memo though.
If they wanted people to donate to a charity, they wouldn’t have registered for about 32 places. They’re obviously hard up for kitchen utensils.
I’ll donate to the early retirement and that’s about it!
