Abramovich still rich, will spend less
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is tired of spending money. Evidently, he is also tired of playing mute. In his first interview in three years, the Russian oil billionaire said, “We will be spending less in the transfer market in future years.”
Chelsea and Abramovich made headlines when the club signed Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko to outlandish contracts in the off-season. Neither player has had a critical impact on the team.
The Guardian has a fantastic piece on the life and times of Abramovich. You should read it.
In other news, Abramovich scooped up Baltic and Mediterranean Avenues and reports say he’s looking to develop hotels on the properties. There goes your $200.

I’m glad the big ticket guys haven’t lived up to expectations. If Chelsea will cut spending, some other clubs may have a shot at the best players.
Good scoring this week, Josh. Nicely done.

Well, tying you doesn’t exactly boost my chances of ruling the fantasy roost but it was a good week thanks to Mr. Primus.
