L.A. Galaxy offers Beckham a contract

MLS Underground is reporting that the Los Angeles Galaxy have offered David Beckham a four-year contract worth $36 million. If true, it would be a partial confirmation of the rumor we first talked about here.

Real Madrid has reportedly told Beckham that he has until next week to decide if he will accept the contract extension offered by the Spanish club. Presumably, that means that we’ll know by next week if Becks is headed to Major League Soccer.

Unless the Glazer half of the original rumor is true also.

I don’t like Glazer either, so it’s like double anti-awesomeness.

Why would the Glazers have to be involved to avoid bankruptcy? The money being offered is AEG money i.e. Phil Anschutz.

You’re right about Anschutz. I wonder if he’d spend this kind of dough on his other holdings or if the L.A. market is the only one where it would be worthwhile…

I’m not sure. To me its always seemed like Anschutz’s has held the Galaxy above his other clubs and if anything the one club he planned on maintaning ownership of. Of course MLSunderground also said the Fire are going after Pavel Nedved so that would be an additional AEG team going for a marquee signing.
