On partnerships

Two interesting partnerships caught my eye over the weekend.

1) Fox Soccer Channel is advertising on Lifehacker. I like the idea but I’m struggling to make the connection between one of the most popular blogs for geeks (including yours truly) and an all-soccer channel. FSC must have seen some convincing demographics.

Update: For what it’s worth, Lifehacker’s audience is mostly male and mostly between the ages of 18 and 34. I reckon that if Fox Soccer Channel wants to generate revenue, that would be their target market.

A quick glance at Gawker Media’s other titles (many of which have similar demos) reveals that FSC must have purchased ads across the network.

2) Locally, the Minnesota Thunder and the Walker Art Center are partnering to screen Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait. This one makes a lot more sense. Check out the trailer here. See you there!

Holy crap… We should schedule a team field trip. That movie looks amazing.
Did you have another hat trick Josh?

That’s a good idea. Perhaps dinner at the sponsor’s and then off to the movie. Watch for an e-mail.

Hat trick? No, didn’t get on the scoresheet at all actually. Needed your commanding presence on the pitch.

I have a game Friday Feb 9th (my birthday), so plan on Feb 10th (I’ve been planning on inviting everyone too, so maybe we should figure out who is doing what). Tickets are $8.00 a pop (I think $6.00 a pop for Walker members).

I have not been able to figure out the capacity of the theatre yet. I’m tempted to just order a bunch of tickets and then sell them to people who want to come. I have the day off tomorrow and will be able to figure out if we could get a group rate or something like that.

Anyway…that’s my thoughts.
