Mia Hamm gives birth to twins
Mia Hamm, former U.S. Women’s National Team star and arguably the greatest female soccer player of all time and Los Angeles Dodgers’ first baseman Nomar Garciaparra (whose first name is “Ramon” spelled backward, by the way) welcomed twin girls into their family yesterday.
Nomar wasn’t in the delivery room but instead attended the birth by speaker phone. Guys, try that one on your baby momma and let me know how it goes.

If I had ‘attended’ the birthing of any of my children via speakerphone, I wouldn’t be drawing breath on this earth.
That said - I did miss the delivery of our fourth. The doctors SWORE she’d be in labor for another hour or so, so I took off to the lobby to call Soccer Mom’s mom and grab a snack. Then I hear ‘Mr Baptiste, please report to labor and delivery immediately..’ over the intercom.
Yeah, missed the fun by like 30 seconds - they were just cutting the cord when I got into the room. Blamed it ALL on the mother-in-law being too chatty!

Fair enough, but trying telling your pregnant wife, “yes, honey, I know you’re due any moment now but I have to go on a long road trip. Maybe I’ll be there; maybe I won’t.”
Well and beyond that - sometimes that due date is just a suggestion so he may have thought he was safe
Most of our kids were early - VERY early. Our first came 5 weeks early - before our child birthing class was even over! We brought the baby to our last class “We passed!” I can’t tell you the panic when you have a new baby, none of the baby showers have happened yet, and you realize you have NOTHING. No diapers, no diaper pail, no stroller, no high chair, etc. etc.
We took him straight from the hospital to Toy R Us which, at the time, had LOTS of baby stuff. We walked out with 2 carts stuffed with baby stuff and arrived at my wife’s Camero, realizing only then that we had to get it all into one of the most infant unfriendly cars there is. People stopped to watch how we would fit it all in and not have to put anything on the roof. We managed to do it with a little rope holding the hatch down and bought our minivan the next week
