It all really does stem from his first few nat matches where he was a goal scoring machine. That was soon followed by rumors of a move to Benfica and a solid season with Dallas before an injury. Ever since then he really hasn't shown much which surprises me there is still alot of hype for Eddie. If anything I keep seeing more and more people making the claim that its time for him to put up or shut up at the national level (myself included).

Peter,

Scoring a hat trick in the MLS is not huge deal. If he was scoring hat tricks in a European league then I would be impressed.

ej's 1st national team game saw a hat trick. he's had two mls games so far this season with a hat trick and is close to being goalscoring leader. i haven't seen him hyped, but it doesn't seem unreasonable for him to be. who else should be hyped in his place? all u.s. strikers are afraid of the goal - that's not unique to ej. all u.s. strikers have zero moves to take on an opponent - these guys don't need to go to europe, they need to go to argentina.

You're right. A good athlete yes, but not a good
soccer player. No instinct, no running off the ball,
no decent shots. Twellman does alot more with less.
