Celtic invest in the future of American soccer

Another happy intersection of the USA and SPL

Celtic have announced plans for 30 community soccer academies across the northern states of the US and into Canada, working with up to 30,000 kids in cities such as Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Detroit, Toronto and Cleveland.

Celtic have the right idea, and hopefully some of the English clubs will follow their lead.  Even though the Hoops are hoping to cultivate some raw American talent for themselves, they will also help boost the game in the USA.  We’ve always wanted our best athletes to play soccer, right?  This is a step in that direction.

Yeah, this is all well and good, but Rangers signed Beasley. Neener neener.

Great find. I’m excited at the prospect of our young talent being trained and handled properly.

Hopefully, this means good things in the future.
